Bronze ring with an integrated oval bezel from Romano-Tardío / Early Byzantine culture, dating to the 4th–8th century AD, in very good condition, dimensions 2.3 × 2.1 cm and weight 5.80 g, provenance Germany from an auction house via Casa de subastas, with authenticity guaranteed and a digital Certificate of Authenticity.
Description from the seller
Bronze Late Roman/Early Byzantine ring with oval bezel and worn incisions – 13th–15th century AD
A bronze ring with an integrated oval head, thick shoulders and a hoop narrowing towards its lower section. Lines or marks on the front and sides are partly obscured by wear and concretions. Brown and greenish tones alternate with pale deposits, with small edge irregularities. No image is reconstructed and no inscription is read from these traces. The piece retains a solid appearance and continuous profile between head and hoop. The head's oval outline remains more readily recognisable than the marks on its face. Broad shoulders continue into the upper portion of the hoop, giving the ring a substantial profile. Patches of pale material contrast with the darker metal, producing an uneven appearance across the front and sides. Some shallow traces are visible, but their relationship cannot be followed with confidence throughout the field. The surviving form and current condition are retained without reconstructing a lost figure or assuming that the marks represent text.
Material: Bronze
Dimensions: 2.3 x 2.1 cm
Weight: 5.80 gr
Provenance: Aduired in Germany from an auction House, previously from a personal collection.
We guarantee the authenticity of the pieces, backed by the combined experience of our experts spanning more than 40 years.
A Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) will be sent digitally by email.
