Hebdomas 8 jours pocket watch from the 1920s with a manual-wind movement, steel case (50 mm diameter), weighing 96 g, in good condition with visible wear, in working order and shipped insured, featuring an enamel cream dial with an open-heart design and green enamel cartouches.
Description from the seller
Magnificent and rare Swiss pocket watch from the prestigious Hebdomas brand, worldwide renowned for its iconic 8-day winding mechanism with a single complete wind ("8 Jours"). This specimen, dating roughly to the 1920s, stands out for its fascinating mechanics and for an aesthetically very unusual configuration.
Dial:
The great distinguishing feature of this lot is its cream-colored enamel dial, decorated with circular enamel plaques in vibrant green enamel containing the Arabic numerals. The dial features the classic "open heart" design in the lower half, leaving the balance and escapement visible. Decorated with engraved representations of lyres and medals. Note the presence of some hairline cracks (superficial fissures) in the enamel in the lower area, something very common and expected in these centennial pieces, which in no way detracts from the beauty or legibility of the whole.
Case:
Era-utility case in nickel-plated steel/ferrous metal, very robust. The back cover has a dark patina of natural wear due to use and the passing of years, giving it an authentic historical character. The inner back cover (cuvette) is beautifully engraved in relief with the medals of the Universal Expositions (Chicago 1902, Paris 1900, Milan 1906, Brussels 1910, 1919), in addition to technical inscriptions: "Spiral Breguet Levées Visibles", "Ancre", "8 Jours" and "Qualité Supérieure Garantie".
Movement / Operation:
Mechanical manual-wind movement Hebdomas 8 days. The watch is in working order. The balance moves freely and the mechanism keeps time. (Being an antique watch of about 100 years, a professional review or lubrication is always recommended if the aim is precise daily use).
