Type: Sparkling Reserve Method Classic Brut
Aging: Over 60 months on the lees
Producer: Marcato (Since 1904)
Bottler/Distributor: Produced by Menomeno Srl - Turin, Italy
Country of origin: Product of Italy
Alcohol Content: 12.5% vol
Format: 750 ml
Allergens: Contains sulfites
Organoleptic Sheet
Appearance: Bright golden yellow with warm reflections. Very fine, persistent, and continuous perlage.
Aroma: Intense and complex. Notes of toasted bread crust, brioche, ripe yellow-fleshed fruit, candied citrus, and mineral nuances typical of the volcanic soils of the Lessini Mountains.
Taste: On the palate it is fresh, dry, and of great structure. The sharp acidity typical of the Durella grape is perfectly balanced by the softness and creaminess developed in over 5 years of aging on the lees. Long, savory, and persistent finish.
Serving Temperature and Glassware
Serving temperature: 8 - 10 °C
Recommended glass: Broad-bodied sparkling wine glass (wide tulip or structured white wine glass), ideal to unleash the complex aroma range and enhance the creaminess of the perlage.
Food Pairings
Traditional dishes: Vicenza-style cod (baccalà alla vicentina) or creamed cod, Adriatic fried fish, Veneto cured hams aged (e.g., Sopressa Vicentina).
First and Second Courses: Seafood risottos, sea urchin tagliolini, delicate white meats, and medium/long-aged cheeses such as Monte Veronese DOP.
Winery and Producer Facts
The Lessini Mountains and the Durella grape: Durella is an ancient autochthonous variety from the hilly area between Verona and Vicenza, known for its high acidity and thick skin, characteristics that make it one of Italy’s best grapes for Classic Method sparkling.
The history of Marcato: The Marcato winery was founded in 1904 by Lattanzio Marcato and has played a central role in the history of Lessini Durello, firmly believing from the start in the potential of long aging on the lees to enhance this volcanic grape.
