Umbertine Walnut Salon/Side Table "Guéridon" - 19th Century
A refined service or salon table (Guéridon) in the Umbertino style, dating from the second half of the 19th century, Italian manufacture. The piece is entirely crafted in solid walnut wood. It features an elegant circular top supported by a finely turned central shaft that rests on a solid tripod base with S-shaped, shaped feet. The highly prized distinctive element is the circular pierced basket positioned halfway up the shaft, supported by small turned columns, perfectly intact. The table is kept in excellent structural and aesthetic condition. The underside of the top preserves the original workmanship of the period, including the distinctive asymmetric single-cut screws and the hand-planed reinforcing crossbar. The furniture is structurally solid and completely free of woodworms.
