Belgian Art Nouveau majolica earthenware vase, circa 1900–1910, with a stylised floral pattern and flowing brown, blue and green glaze, measuring 38 cm high and in good condition with minor signs of age.
Description from the seller
A large Belgian Art Nouveau majolica earthenware vase, circa 1900, decorated overall with a stylised floral pattern in the characteristic style of the period. The glaze — a flowing combination of brown, blue and green — gives the surface a fluid, almost liquid quality associated with the better Belgian faience and studio ceramic production of the Art Nouveau era. The vase stands 38 cm tall with a maximum body diameter of 15 cm and weighs 1,853 g. The base bears a handwritten or impressed signature, a 'Made in Belgium' country mark, and a serial or model number. Despite research, the maker has not been positively identified; the quality of the glaze and the modelling are consistent with output from the southern Belgian faience centres active around 1900, though no firm attribution can be made. Condition is Very Good. The piece presents well overall with no chips, cracks or repairs observed. Minor surface wear consistent with age may be present; buyers are encouraged to examine the photographs, which form part of the condition record.
