Description from the seller
Antique Renaissance-Style Bookcase Finely Carved
Important Italian bookcase in Renaissance style, dating from the early 20th century, characterized by a monumental and richly worked structure, finished in a dark tone. The upper part features a wide projecting cornice accompanied by a finely carved band with vegetal and ornamental motifs.
The front is marked by vertically fluted elements with decorative capitals, which give the furniture an architectural and particularly dramatic appearance. In the center there are two arched open compartments, separated by elegant columns and complete with internal shelves. The central lower part houses three wide drawers with turned handles.
On the sides there are two tall doors, enhanced by panels covered in red damask fabric and protected by elaborate decorative metal grilles. Opening the doors provides access to spacious lateral compartments with shelves. The lower panels of the doors are enriched with circular relief embellishments. The base, also carved, rests on characteristically sculpted feet.
A piece with a strong decorative presence, ideal for furnishing studies, libraries, salons, or environments of particular prestige.
