This oil on canvas painting is a forest landscape in a Neo-Impressionist and Expressionist style, notable for a dazzling explosion of light and color centered on the culminant moment of a sunset. The composition uses a strong central perspective defined by the vertical alignment of slender dark trunks, through which a radiant golden sun filters its rays, projecting elongated violet and blue shadows onto the forest floor. The technique is distinguished by a thick, juxtaposed brushstroke with heavy texture, where the foliage is resolved through a vibrant range of Reds, Magentas, Incandescent Oranges, and Yellows, harmoniously balanced by glints of cobalt blue in the tree canopy and the undergrowth. The dramatic contrast between the blinding brightness of the background and the silhouette of the woodland creates an immersive, poetic atmosphere with vibrant emotional warmth.
