Lladró - Figure - "May Dance" (Model #5662) - Porcelain

This authentic glazed Lladró "May Dance" porcelain figurine (Model #5662) was designed by sculptor José Puche, officially issued in 1990, and subsequently retired in 2005. Base Markings Breakdown • The Main Stamp: The blue backstamp featuring the famous bellflower logo confirms its authenticity. The text "DAISA 1989" indicates the year the design copyright was formally registered by Lladró’s parent company, one year prior to its commercial retail launch in 1990. • Incised Numbers (5662): This permanently stamped four-digit number matches the official Lladró catalog model index for the "May Dance" piece. • The "F-25 M" & Artisan Symbols: The etched letter-number sequence and small hand-carved geometric marks near the vent hole are unique identifiers for the individual porcelain painters and mold makers who hand-finished this specific statue in Spain. Artwork & Design The piece is known in Spanish as Tela al Viento Rosa (Fabric in the Pink Wind). The design elegantly captures the fluid motion of a young dancer mid stride. She is wearing a soft, seafoam green dress and a wide brimmed sun hat, gracefully holding a billowing, lavender tinted shawl behind her. The high gloss glaze highlights the intricate, flowing drapery folds that are classic to Lladró's romantic style. Collectibility Because this piece was retired in 2005, it is no longer produced, meaning all available pieces reside in the secondary collector's market. "May Dance" remains a highly sought-after figure due to its dynamic pose and popular pastel color palette.
