Pendant glass lamp with eight blown-glass diffusers in a metal frame, in a mid-century design style, measuring 25 × 25 × 22 cm with a ceiling height of 83.5 cm and dating to 1960–1970, in good condition and in working order.
Description from the seller
Glass pendant lamp with eight blown glass diffusers.
Elegant pendant lamp composed of a metallic structure and eight cylindrical diffusers in transparent blown glass, characterized by an irregular surface, rich with reliefs and suggestive refractions.
The distinctive element of the lamp is the particular three-dimensional texture of the glass, which gives the diffusers a nearly crystalline, ice-like appearance. The light passes through the surfaces creating sparkling reflections and a refined light diffusion.
The cylinders are handcrafted and show slight differences in shape and in the distribution of texture, features that distinguish hand-worked glass from mass-produced elements.
PRODUCTION:
The work is carried out hot: the master glassmaker gathers the molten glass on the blowpipe, forming the so-called bolo, the mass of glass still plastic destined for shaping. The bolo is rolled over small fragments of glass, which adhere to the surface, creating the characteristic material structure. Subsequently, the mass is blown into a mold to obtain the cylindrical shape. After cooling, the diffusers are ground and finished to smooth the edges and enhance the glass’s transparency.
The ensemble unites the tradition of artistic glassworking with a sculptural aesthetic, in which matter and light become protagonists. A suspended piece with strong visual impact, ideal for contemporary interiors, spaces with a vintage taste, or rooms furnished with 20th-century design pieces.
