Description from the seller

Philips DCC 600, DCC and cassette recorder

The Philips DCC 600 is a second-generation Digital Compact Cassette (DCC) recorder and player, introduced by Philips around 1993.

It is capable of recording and playing DCC digital cassettes, but it can also play normal analog Compact Cassettes. The device automatically recognizes the inserted tape type and activates the appropriate head system.

It uses Philips’ Precision Adaptive Sub-band Coding (PASC) audio compression, which compresses the digital stereo signal to a fixed bit rate of 384 kbit/s. This allows recording digital audio at the same tape-speed as analog cassettes (4.76 cm/s).

It features coaxial digital I/O (S/PDIF), analog RCA inputs and outputs, and a 6.3 mm front-panel headphone jack with adjustable output.

Supports automatic or manual writing of track markers, enabling quick skipping from one track to another (impossible on standard cassette recorders). It also includes the “Append” function, which allows adding new recordings to the end of a partially recorded DCC tape without overwriting the existing content.

Main technical specifications
Digital bitrate: 384 kbit/s (PASC).
Sampling frequencies: 32 kHz, 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz.
Frequency response (DCC): 20 Hz – 20 kHz ±0.5 dB.
Frequency response (analog cassettes): 40 Hz – 14 kHz.
Channel separation (DCC): 80 dB at 1 kHz.
Weight: about 4 kg.
Dimensions: 435 × 300 × 90 mm.

Photos are part of the description.
Sold as non-working (won’t power on).

The display with the DCC inscription is not part of the sale.
