The Ducal Revelation is a French mid-century modern coffee table by Albert Ducrot, made with a beech-veneered top and black-painted iron legs, and it extends into a dining table.
Description from the seller
Albert Ducrot x Ducal table “Revelation”
This mid-century coffee table can be enlarged up to three times its size. Its internal mechanism allows quickly transforming it into a table for six diners, making it a very practical option for small apartments. The top is made of veneered beech, while the legs are iron painted black.
Its author, Albert Ducrot (Tournus in Saône-et-Loire 1900 - 1964) was a manufacturer and inventor, associated with Art Deco and the Modern Movement. He studied at the École des Arts et Métiers of Chalon-sur-Saône and then began working at his father’s chair factory. This background helped him, together with his brother Marcel Ducrot, to pursue upholstery in Paris. The company was very successful, which led him to buy a factory in Autun and found Ducal, the brand of this table. His modular designs were very innovative for his time and fit within the tradition of the French Modern Movement, standing alongside designers like Jean Prouvé or Charlotte Perriand. His Art Deco designs, on the other hand, relate to those of Jean Royère and Jean-Michel Frank.
