Description from the seller
Beautiful Chinese oval porcelain platter, dating to the Late Qing Dynasty / Early Republic period, circa 1880–1930.
The central medallion features a finely painted four-clawed dragon chasing the flaming pearl, surrounded by stylised clouds and flames. The rich cobalt-blue underglaze decoration is beautifully enhanced with detailed gilding, highlighting the dragon's scales, claws and flowing mane.
The elaborate border combines geometric blue-and-white patterns with delicate iron-red floral motifs, green enamel accents and intricate gilt scrollwork.
A particularly attractive feature is the distinctive orange-peel glaze, clearly visible on the reverse, giving the porcelain a characteristic subtly dimpled texture.
