Description from the seller
GENERAL
This is a charming Citroën 2CV6 Spécial from 1985, a late-produced example of one of the most brilliant and well-known car designs in history. Originally conceived in the 1930s to “motorize” rural France, the 2CV — or “Deux Chevaux” — became a global symbol of simplicity, practicality, and French joie de vivre. By the mid-1980s the model had reached its mechanical evolution; this 1985 version features the more powerful 602 cc air-cooled two-cylinder engine and, crucially, the standard front disc brakes, which significantly increased safety and braking performance compared with earlier drum-brake models. As a Spécial trim, it retains the classic round headlights, preferred by many purists over the rectangular units of the Club models from the same era, making it the epitome of the collector’s choice.
BODY & PAINT
The bodywork is clean and shows no rust traces, suggesting the vehicle was likely restored by a previous owner. In line with this, several body parts appear to have been replaced with new components before the car received a full repaint in the current bright finish. Although the exterior presents very neatly, the undercarriage and floors remain solid, showing signs of age typical for a car over 40 years old that enjoyed regular street use. The distinctive foldable vinyl roof cover is in nearly new condition, functions perfectly, and provides a watertight seal, ensuring the classic open-air driving experience that defined the 2CV remains possible.
TECHNICAL
Technically, the 2CV runs reliably and well, reflecting the legendary reliability of the M28/1 engine. The car starts, moves, steers, and brakes well. The electrical system is operational, including headlights and indicators. One technical point requiring attention is the fuel gauge, which is present but currently inoperable; a simple, common repair for this model. A new set of front brake discs is included; the existing discs are serviceable but show a little rust, so replacement could be sensible. A small number of additional new maintenance parts are also included, such as the Ram Air valve (throttle body vent), carburetor kit, etc.
Under the car, the exhaust system shows some surface rust but remains intact and leak-free, while the rubber suspension is brittle and cracked. The suspension, which preserves the famous long travel of the “networked” suspension that lets the car glide smoothly over uneven surfaces, functions but no longer looks good and may need replacement.
INTERIOR
The interior remains clean and retains its minimalist, classic charm. The distinctive hammock-style seats are in good condition and show signs of aging but remain comfortable and supportive. The interior reflects the Spécial aesthetic, designed to be functional and durable, offering a welcoming space that can be used without immediate renovation.
DOCUMENTS
The vehicle is sold with its complete Danish registration documents, facilitating easy registration or export within the EU. A set of keys is included with the car.
PICK-UP
The car is located in southern Germany and can be viewed or collected by appointment. While the buyer is responsible for arranging transportation, the seller may assist with coordinating handover to a professional shipping company if required. The car should be collected no later than 7 days after purchase. Please no bidders who say they will be abroad for four weeks first and then handle pickup.
OTHER INFORMATION
Although this is not a concours “show car,” it is a very solid and nimble daily driver that perfectly embodies the spirit of the classic French icon. With some care and maintenance it offers an immediately usable opportunity to enjoy the 2CV lifestyle, benefit from the 1980s mechanical upgrades, and at the same time preserve the silhouette of the 1940s. It is an ideal entry point into old-timer ownership.

Disclaimer
Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
