Description from the seller
Lot consists of 4 sage-green Jasperware bowls. A distinctive color, since Jasperware is best known in the light blue version.
Jasperware is a stoneware with a matte, biscuit finish.
It is a so-called Bridgeset where each bowl takes the shape of a playing card; diamonds, hearts, clubs and spades.
Originally these sets were placed on the corners of the bridge table to serve as individual ashtrays or snack bowls for the players.
Nowadays they are used more decoratively or as jewelry boxes, etc.
The bowls are decorated in relief, creating a cameo effect.
Each bowl has a different image with the same border of oak leaves and acorns.
They are all marked Wedgwood with different dating.
Diamonds 1956 (11.5 x 14.5 cm)
Hearts 1955 (11 x 10.5 cm)
Clubs Wedgwood mark used from 1975 (11.5 x 11.5 cm)
Spades 1977 (11.5 x 11.5 cm)
All are in very good condition.
View the photos carefully, they are part of the description.
The lot will be sent by registered mail.
