AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Coffee table / Italian occasional table from 1950-1955.
Iconic tripod structure with slender, tapered legs converging into a turned central sphere, circular top with a molded edge in double-stripe and the original acid-etched glass with a hand-engraved central motif depicting birds in flight and floral scrolls.

Restoration:
The table has undergone professional conservation restoration — cleaning, consolidation and revival of the original shellac finish — deliberately left with its original patina. No repainting, no replacement, no structural modification. The aim was to preserve the authenticity of the piece.
Conditions and total transparency
• Wooden structure: very good, solid and stable, coherent patina, minimal signs of use compatible with age.
• Original 1950s glass top: as shown in the photo, a small conch-shell-shaped chip on the edge (Ø about 2 cm) and slight wear / dulling of the satin-finish on the lower part of the glass, visible in backlight. The upper surface of the glass remains perfectly smooth and transparent. This is natural wear of the etched treatment over time, not a breakage. Defects clearly visible in the photo and not compromising use.

Material: Walnut, original acid-etched glass
Period: 1950-1959
Origin: Italy
Style: Mid-Century Modern, Italian Organic Design
Provenance: private collection
Dimensions: diameter 64 cm, height 47
