Description from the seller
Danish Design Mid-Century Modern Rosewood (Rio Palisander) End Element / Sculptural Room Divider – 1960s/70s
Description:
an exceptionally elegant and rare Mid-Century Modern piece from the 60s/70s, crafted in high-quality Rio rosewood veneer (Brazilian Rosewood). This exclusive object is in beautiful vintage condition and shows a stunning, flame-like bookmatched wood grain with a deep, warm reddish-brown glow and characteristic dark lines.
Unique Asymmetric Design & Waterfall Curve
The furniture is characterized by its refined, asymmetric form. The top edge flows in a smooth, organic 'waterfall' curve that seamlessly continues into the side, while the bottom is crisp and right-angled. This piece was originally designed as a high-end end element or corner module to neatly finish a larger modular wall system or the armrest of a low, chic design sofa.
Flexible Placement in the Interior
Thanks to the sleek, blind back and the continuous, high-quality rosewood finish around, this piece is ideal for freestanding placement in the middle of a room. It functions perfectly as a low, sculptural room divider, as a design niche for art books and objects, or as a stylish connector element behind or next to a freestanding seating area.
Condition:
In good, original vintage condition. The rosewood veneer is in good condition with the exception of one corner. Light, superficial age- and use-related signs consistent with the age (see detail photos for an honest view). The surface finish could use a little love.
Specifications:
Material: Rio rosewood veneer (Rosewood)
Style: Mid-Century Modern / Scandinavian / Danish Design
Period: 1960s / 1970s
Status: Rare anonymous quality design
