A pair of decorative cassolettes in antique French style, likely alabaster/beige marble with bronze mounts, dating from 1900–1910 and resting on square marble pedestals with bronze stabilising rings; each vase measures about 60 cm high, 25 cm wide and 20 cm deep in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
a couple of classic decorative vases (the so-called cassolettes) made of lightly veined marble or alabaster, adorned with bronze mounts. These objects are modeled after French antique pieces from the Louis XVI period or Napoleon III and form a beautiful element of traditional interior decoration (often used as mantelpiece decoration).
Object features:
• Material: The vases are made of polished stone with a natural color (probably onyx marble or beige/honey-colored alabaster).
• Mounts and ornaments: Bronze (or brass) ornaments with visible patina/copper-green include decorative side handles in the shape of volutes/acanthus leaves, floral garlands around the body of the vase, and decorative crowns on the lids (cones or pinnacles).
• Pedestal: Both vases rest on square or geometrically faceted marble pedestals with a bronze stabilizing ring.
