Mosquetero is an unsigned original oil painting from Spain, dated 1900–1910, depicting a musketeer and sold with a frame; it needs restoration.
Description from the seller
Magnificent antique 19th-century oil painting – Musketeer / Gentleman of the Era Portrait
An essential piece for lovers of classical art and high-end collecting!
Spectacular original oil painting on canvas, from the late 19th or early 20th century, that captures perfectly the essence and the romance of the preciousist movement and the European Baroque influence
The work depicts the bust of an elegant gentleman or musketeer in a reflective, solemn pose. Sublime is the rich texture of his wide-brimmed hat adorned with feathers, as well as the intricate detail of the lace collar, executed with loose brushstrokes but with great chromatic precision.
It presents a magnificent mastery of chiaroscuro, with a palette of earthy tones, browns and ochres that will fill any space with warmth and distinction. Evokes the mastery of the Spanish and French classical schools of the period (circa 1880).
• Condition: Very well preserved for its age, maintaining the vivacity of its organic pigments on the canvas, as shown in one of the photographs there is a small bare spot that does not affect the portrait at all, but whoever wishes could restore it, and the frame could also be changed or fully restored.
