Stalla is a 19th-century oil painting depicting animals, from Gibraltar.
Description from the seller
Oil painting on canvas
Canvas dimensions: 45 x 35 cm
The painting is in fair condition, as can be seen from the back photos; it bears old restorations, and it can be dated to the first half of the 1800s. On the back you can see inscriptions. At the bottom there is an imprint (partly mirrored or laid out) of Roberson & Miller, a historic London supplier of art materials located at 51 Long Acre, London. The inscription usually reads "Prepared by Roberson & Miller, 51 Long Acre, London" (manufacturers of canvases and prepared supports).
The company operated under the name Roberson & Miller between 1828 and 1839, the year in which the partnership between Charles Roberson and Thomas Miller was dissolved (subsequently the business continued only as Charles Roberson). This provides a useful terminus ante quem or a chronological reference for dating the canvas or the support.
In the case of sale the painting will be adequately packed for shipment.
