Description from the seller
This mid-century frosted glass decanter, dating from the 1950s, represents a classic example of vintage French glass craftsmanship. The piece features a distinct relief matrix, showcasing three-dimensional embossed grapevine motifs with detailed leaf structures. A notable design element is the horizontal beaded band on the neck, situated just above vertical flutes that elegantly taper down into the body.
The decanter is complete with its original solid glass stopper, which features an ornate diamond-cut pattern that contrasts beautifully with the satin finish of the base. The frosted, ice-like surface was achieved through acid-etching or sandblasting, a popular technique of the era used to give the glass a soft tactile feel and diffuse light. Well-preserved and collectible specimen of post-war European barware design.
In very good vintage condition with no chips, cracks, or restorations. Minimal traces of time and use.
Approximate dimensions: Height: 31 cm. Diameter ca: 12.5 cm. Weight: 863 g.
