• Condition: Good – 2 issues, fully disclosed under Known Issues.
About this camera
The Canon Canodate E is a 1970s 35mm compact rangefinder from the Canonet family, with one unusual feature: a built-in date imprinting system that records the year, month and day on the negative, set with the dials beside the lens. It pairs a sharp Canon 40mm f/2.8 lens with automatic exposure and a coupled rangefinder in a solid metal body. Far less common than the Canonets it is based on, it is an interesting piece of Canon compact-camera history.
Measured Performance
- Light meter accuracy — EV12: 1.1 UNDER / EV15: 1.0 UNDER
The shutter fires and the light meter responds; exposure measured within the normal range.
Servicing
- Viewfinder cleaned internally
- Light seals (foam) replaced
Condition
Appearance: scuffs and scratches from normal use. Please check the photos for details.
Lens: clear, no issues
Viewfinder: some haze inside the viewfinder — please check the photos
Known Issues
1. The shutter release button returns sluggishly.
2. Some haze inside the viewfinder (please check the photos).
