Description from the seller
Antique French crumb tray and scraper set by Orfèvrerie Gallia, the line Christofle created in 1898 for silver-plated pieces on a Gallia metal base.
Both pieces are decorated in the Louis XVI revival style, with reeded borders bound by crossed ribbons and laurel sprays in relief. The tray has an open scrolled handle with acanthus leaves. The scraper’s handle has acanthus and laurel decoration that rises from the base of the blade.
Marks: the Gallic rooster shield with “ORFÈVRERIE GALLIA”, model number 4861, and the square silver-plating mark (goat’s head in a lozenge) used by Gallia/Christofle in the early 20th century.
Condition: the plating on the tray is clearly worn, with the base metal showing in places. Both pieces have surface scratches and patina from use. No dents, breaks or repairs. The scraper is in better condition. Please see the photos, which are part of the description.
Please note: these pieces are silver-plated, not solid silver.
