Description from the seller
Lombard Walnut Console – Mid-19th Century
This magnificent console represents an excellent testimony to the Luigi Filippo style, produced in Lombardy around the middle of the 19th century. The style, which spread during the reign of Louis-Philippe I of Orléans, is distinguished by a return to softer, more sinuous lines compared to the previous Neoclassicism, while maintaining a solidity and formal dignity perfect for furnishing noble houses and the high bourgeoisie of the era.
The use of Lombard walnut is evident in the dense grain and the warm, deep tone of the wood, typical of North Italian cabinet-making productions. The piece preserves its splendid original patina, underscoring its authenticity and historical provenance.
This console is a piece of great antiques importance, perfect for furnishing an entrance hall, a spacious corridor, or a salon, acting as a true wooden sculpture capable of capturing attention.
