Description from the seller
Figurative sculpture of a violin in patinated bronze, in the second half of the twentieth century
Decorative sculpture made in patinated bronze during the second half of the twentieth century, conceived as an artistic and contemporary interpretation of a violin. The piece features a stylized design with an abstract character, in which the traditional shapes of the musical instrument have been simplified and transformed by organic volumes and perforations that bring dynamism and visual lightness.
The violin body appears to be represented schematically, while preserving essential elements such as the resonator box, the neck, and the bridge, albeit reinterpreted with a modern sculptural language. The surface shows an attractive patina in greenish and bluish tones, the result of treatments applied to the bronze to emphasize the texture and depth of the piece. In the most prominent areas emerge golden nuances of the metal, creating a notable chromatic contrast that highlights the reliefs and contours.
The sculpture rises on a solid rectangular base in polished clear crystal, whose formal simplicity helps to reinforce the presence of the work and ensure the overall stability. The transparency of the support establishes an interesting visual dialogue with the opacity and richness of the bronze.
Because of its abstract aesthetics and clear reference to the musical world, this piece combines sculptural and decorative qualities, constituting a representative example of artistic production inspired by musical instruments during the second half of the twentieth century. Its execution testifies to a concern for formal synthesis and volumetric experimentation, features common in contemporary ornamental sculpture.
