A native gold nugget (pepita) weighing 0.14 g from Lapland, Sotajoki, Finland, formed over 4.6 billion years ago.
Description from the seller
The gold in this Lapland nugget existed before the Sun.
It was forged more than 4.6 billion years ago in explosions and collisions of stars, before the Sun and the Earth existed. It traveled through space as stardust and became trapped in the mother rock of Lapland, nearly 2 billion years old. Then it spent millennia under the Arctic ice, until the thaw brought it to the rivers. Gold is not manufactured or printed: it is found. And there won’t be any more.
In 1868, an expedition found it in the Ivalo River and unleashed Finland’s first gold fever. In 1945, with the war just over, men returning from the front climbed to Lemmenjoki to try their luck with gold. Even today, every summer, scores of prospectors wash it under the midnight sun; the rest of the year, snow and polar night cover everything. Lapland produces very little gold, and no two nuggets are alike: this one is unique.
Why do you need gold? Those men were coming out of a war and went to search for gold. It is no accident: in every war, many who had to flee with nothing took gold with them, because it fits in a pocket and is valuable across borders. Wars return today, debt keeps growing, and talk of collapse is everywhere. The money in your account is a promise from the bank; gold is no one’s promise, and no government can print it.
To survive a crisis you don’t need a ingot, but something you can divide and trade. That’s why nuggets are the most practical way to own gold: small, divisible, interchangeable and recognizable anywhere in the world. The time to have them is before you need them.
You’ll receive it in a small glass vial that protects it and lets you admire it without touching it. I’ll ship as soon as possible after payment.
A piece of the oldest Arctic you can own, to protect what you have. There is only one: bid on it.
Ideal for:
• Collectors of minerals and natural gold nuggets
• Collectors of native gold of high purity
• Lovers of the history of the Australian gold rush
• Fans of unique geological specimens
• Those who value physical gold as a real, tangible asset
• An extraordinary gift for someone special
