Description from the seller
The Denon DP 6000 was offered in the late seventies as a modular system. In other words, the delivery included only the turntable itself, i.e., without the cabinet and the tonearm. These could be chosen according to personal preference, taste and budget. The turntable offered here comes in the following audiophile configuration:
-- DP 6000 turntable
-- DK 300 cabinet
-- SME 3009 S2 unipivot tonearm
-- Audio Technica AT VM95 (MM) cartridge
The DP 6000 is a high-end, direct-drive turntable with quartz lock and a speed monitoring system designed by Denon itself that continuously checks the set speed and adjusts as needed. The roots of this 6000 lie in professional turntables used, among other places, in radio studios. The powerful AC servo motor ensures the turntable is instantly at speed, and the electronically controlled brake brings the 1.8 kg platter to a stop within two counts. Via the built-in stroboscope you can, if desired, increase or decrease the speed by up to 6% (Pitch Control). As is common with many high-end players, this top Denon is also fully manually operated.
The Denon DK 300 cabinet in which this DP 6000 is housed gives the whole unit a classic look thanks to the Bubinga wood coating. Thanks to its own weight of almost 10 kg combined with four height-adjustable damping feet, any vibrations are eliminated. A smoke glass dust cover was chosen, which unfortunately did not survive the long journey from Japan without some damage. The advice is to replace it. Imitation dust covers for the Denon DP 6000 are still available.
The tonearm chosen is the high-end lightweight SME 3009 S2 (the improved version), one of the most iconic and legendary precision tonearms in the history of analog audio! The arm tube, made of polished and anodized aluminum, is internally lined with a fibrous wood veneer to dampen unwanted resonances. Fully adjustable overhang (via a sliding base), tracking force (VTF), vertical angle (VTA) and lateral balance.
The Audio Technica AT VM95 C/H element mounted on a titanium headshell belongs to Audio-Technica’s mid-range and features a dual magnet design for accurate stereo playback. The sound field is detailed, bright and dynamic. With a frequency range of 20–22,000 Hz, this brand-new element brings music to life.
As you can see in the photos, this wonderful high-end player is still in spectacular visual condition. Almost no signs of use, a beauty to behold! Under the hood this top player (of course) is also in top condition. As is RiVe’s standard practice, every item up for auction first goes to RiVe’s dedicated service technician. The motor was lubricated, the motor shaft cleaned, and all electronics including printed circuit boards checked. Only after the technician is 100% satisfied is the item offered for auction so you can bid with a clear conscience. Because this is a player that was only delivered for the Japanese domestic market (100 volt), a step-down converter (220/240V > 100V) is needed. This is always included with the purchase from RiVe.
If you want to see the player in action, check RiVe’s own YouTube channel by entering RiVe Vintage Audio in the search bar. In addition to perfect operation, you can also view the cosmetic condition.
