Beautiful vintage 2-piece Herend porcelain set – 'Apponyi Pink' (Chinese Bouquet) – Hungary – 1970s – Hand-painted
Description:
Offered is a splendid two-piece vintage set from the world-renowned porcelain manufacturer Herend (Hungary). Both items are executed in the iconic and highly beloved Apponyi Pink (AP) decor, in English also known as Chinese Bouquet.
This set was given as a gift in the 1970s and has since been meticulously cared for. The decoration is fully hand-painted and refined with rich 24-karat gold accents. The pieces feature the distinctive, osier-woven relief on porcelain (basket-weave).
The set consists of the following two hand-signed top pieces:
1. Leaf-shaped Serving Dish / Leaf Dish (Model 204/AP)
• Features: Elegant, organically shaped dish with a prettily braided handle and a refined shell edge with a gold-gilded trim.
• Mark: Bottom stamped with the blue Herend mark from the period, including model number 204/AP.
• Dimensions: Approximately 20 cm x 20 cm.
2. Large Lidded Ginger Jar / Jar with hand-formed rose
• Features: A generous, bulbous decorative vase with loose lid. The absolute highlight is the lid knob, designed as a three-dimensionally hand-sculpted rose in knob form.
• Mark: Bottom adorned with the authentic blue Herend mark.
Condition:
Both pieces are in exceptionally beautiful, display-case-worthy condition. There are no chips, no hairlines, and the gold rims are beautifully bright and unworn. Even the extremely delicate rosebud on the lid is completely intact (see detail photos).
A fantastic opportunity for the collector of exclusive European porcelain to add this harmonious, vintage set with a fine history to the collection.
