Description from the seller
Leica M3 DS Double-lever Rangefinder Camera (Special edition, repainted in coral blue)
Customized special edition
Serial number: 740534.
This tailor-made camera is the first to use an innovative process to reproduce the blue hue of Leica’s rarest military model in history. The blue paint process differs significantly from black paint by micro-spraying. It mainly involves the manual application of multiple coats, followed by repeated wiping and intensive drying, as shown in the detailed photos. This extremely complex process, rarely seen on the market, is mastered by only a few artisans in the Kanto region.
This Leica M3 represents the pinnacle of current paint finishes. The details, visible in the photos, are fine, deep, and rich in grain and relief, with a warm finish reminiscent of jade. Moreover, this M3 model is the most accomplished and robust version in the series, with its film-compartment cover inlaid into the panel and a brass frame—features of early Leica M models.
The camera is in excellent condition, like new.
All its functions are normal. It has undergone a full overhaul and rigorous quality control; the shutter speed is precise, the shutter is flat, and the self-timer works correctly. The viewfinder is bright and clear, the rangefinder is accurate, the yellow focus point is sharp and bright, and focusing is fast and precise.
