Description from the seller

Antique oak chest of drawers / commode with marble top and richly detailed fronts

Description

Beautiful and characterful antique chest of drawers/commode, probably crafted in the 19th century, executed in solid-looking dark patinated wood and featuring a handsome **light marble top**.

The cabinet has five spacious drawers, of which the top two are narrower. All drawers have beautifully profiled and framed front panels. The pronounced grain is clearly visible and gives the piece a warm, natural appearance.

Particularly attractive is the contrast between the warm, dark brown wood and the light marble top. The upper drawers are equipped with decorative ring pulls, while the three larger drawers have curved metal handles. The various metal fittings contribute to the authentic character of the furniture.

The cabinet rests on a characteristic wooden base with profiled horizontal moldings and decoratively shaped feet. The carefully worked profiles around the drawers and the structural details point to traditionally crafted furniture.

Style and provenance

The design shows features of a 19th-century European commode, with influences that align with traditional French/Belgian cabinetry. The exact origin is not documented and is therefore described as presumably West-European.

The combination of the profiled front, the classic proportions, the marble top and the metal fittings makes the piece representative of the classical European interior tradition.

### Material

Oak wood
Marble top
Metal fittings and pulls

Condition

The cabinet is in good, used antique condition, with visible signs of age and use. The wood shows natural discoloration, patina, small scratches and signs of use appropriate to its age. The fittings also show signs of aging.

The marble top also shows light signs of wear. The cabinet has an authentic, unrestored appearance.

The photos are an integral part of the condition description and should be viewed carefully.

An attractive piece for lovers and collectors of antique European furniture. Thanks to the classic design, the warm wood grain, the marble top and the characteristic detailing, the cabinet is suitable both as a functional piece of furniture and as a decorative antique object.
