Fascinating vintage stool in cast and worked brass, featuring a refined Neoclassical design with rich decorative details. The seat is upholstered in luxurious deep forest green velvet. An elegant and sophisticated accent piece, perfect for a bedroom, a dressing area, or a classic living room.
Detailed Description
Technical and Stylistic Details:
Period: Estimated mid-20th century.
Style: Clear nod to Neoclassical style, visible in the geometric shapes and ornamentation inspired by classical antiquity.
Frame Material: Solid brass. The brass presents a beautiful vintage patina and high-quality cast details.
Leg Details: The four legs are magnificently worked. They are tapered and feature a deep vertical fluting, topped with balustrade-shaped capitals finely cast with foliate motifs. They end with stable, elegant feet.
Seat Frieze: The rectangular frame supporting the seat is adorned along the entire perimeter with a refined Neoclassical frieze motif, adding a touch of opulence.
Cross-Stretch Detail: The legs are connected by an elegant curved “H” cross-stretch with fluted junction bars, which not only reinforces the structure but also adds a distinctive decorative element.
Upholstery: The rectangular seat is generously padded and covered in high-quality forest green cotton velvet. The velvet has a soft, luxurious finish.
Bottom: As shown in the detailed photos, the base is solidly built with a supporting panel protected by a green fabric covering, and the feet are equipped with felt pads to protect floors.
Conditions:
The stool is in good vintage condition. The brass framework is solid and features an authentic aged patina that enhances its character. There are minor signs of wear and oxidation on the brass, typical of age and use. The velvet is clean and well-preserved, without tears or obvious stains, with only slight compression of the fabric fibers consistent with a vintage piece. Please carefully view all images as part of the description."
