Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
The Siemens “Pipistrello” wall telephone is made of Bakelite, dates from 1950–1960 and is in very good condition with slight signs of age and wear, but is not working.
Description from the seller
This Siemens telephone, very widespread in the early post-war period and throughout the 1950s, was known by the nickname 'Pipistrello' (the Bat) due to its vertical position on the wall of the house. It continued its highly useful service through my relative until 1960, when it was replaced by a tabletop dial model. It was produced by the German company Siemens (which had a Milan office) from 1936 to 1958. It was a unified model of the Stipel Telephone Company and received wide public approval.
The Pipistrello has a central body, a telephone protective hood, and a numerical selector dial that operates with the characteristic return noise. Made with very sturdy black posts, it has the ringer in the central body and the forked hook for the handset with a cord covered in the distinctive dark fabric. It reached any subscriber of the urban network and connected through a switchboard to the Italian long-distance network.
It was detached from the wall when it was perfectly functioning at the time and placed in a box.
We do not know if it is operational, and therefore it is sold as a decorative object.
Great as a wall hanging near modern laptops as a symbol of a distant era, suitable for industrial or vintage interiors.
There was no separate analog plug lead in this model, hence it is not present.
For those who wish to bring it back to life, it should be entrusted to a skilled telecommunications expert (for him, a very simple operation).
The black exterior finish is much nicer than in the photos, while the receiver is less glossy as it has been frequently used.
It has never been repaired and shows no defects to report.
WE DO NOT SHIP OUTSIDE THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITY.
For the Islands we reserve the right to charge an additional shipping surcharge if applicable.
