Description from the seller
Antique dessert/fruit service in 800 silver - BB 800 - 14 pieces (circa 1890-1910)
Refined antique dessert and fruit service for 6 people with serving utensils, made in 800 silver by the BB manufactory during the Belle Époque. The handles feature elegant raised decorations in a historicist style with foliate and garland motifs. The serving utensils are enriched by fine geometric-floral engraving.
Set composition (14 pieces):
6 dessert/fruit forks (18 cm).
6 dessert/fruit knives (20 cm).
1 large cake server (27 cm).
1 curved serving knife (27 cm).
The handles bear the manufacturer’s rectangular stamp "BB 800".
Condition of the item: Good overall condition with the usual patina of oxidation over time and uneven gilding on some pieces. The handles are structurally solid. Note that two utensils have the upper metal part visibly bent (out of alignment) relative to the handle, as clearly seen in the photos; the joint between parts remains fixed and securely locked. Please view the detailed photos, an integral part of the description.
It should be noted that internally the handles of the utensils are hollow and likely filled with resin.
Seller's Story
For over 20 years, I have dedicated myself passionately to the search for and trading of special, rare, curious objects from any era.
Every piece I select has something that captures my attention: it can be the shape, the story, the unusual... or simply that detail that makes it unique.
I am always searching for objects that speak, that tell something to those who know how to listen.
I choose them carefully, photograph them honestly, and describe them as accurately as possible.
Selling on Catawiki to share this passion with those who, like me, love to surround themselves with things with a soul.
