About this camera
The Konica III of 1956 is one of the finest Japanese rangefinders of the 1950s. Konishiroku gave it a distinctive lever-wind on the front of the lens barrel, a bright 1:1 viewfinder with a coupled rangefinder and a Seikosha-MXL leaf shutter, paired with the sharp Hexanon 48mm f/2.4 lens. Solidly built from metal throughout, it remains a satisfying, fully mechanical camera to use today.
Measured Performance
- 1 s — measured 1/0.8 s (approx. 0.3 stop slow)
- 1/60 — measured 1/51 s (approx. 0.2 stop slow)
- 1/1000 — measured 1/390 s (approx. 1.4 stop slow)
The leaf shutter fires at all speeds and the coupled rangefinder works.
