This item is a rare Soviet underwater housing "KRAB" (or "UKP"), made of die-cast aluminum alloy to accommodate 35 mm rangefinder cameras, specifically the Leningrad, the FED (models 1-3) and the Zorki (models 1-4). Produced originally for the GOMZ Leningrad camera, this housing allowed taking photographs down to a depth of 40 meters.
Main features:
Functional design: The bright yellow body served to make the camera easily visible in turbid waters, while the red cap acted as a natural indicator for the solar spectrum; if the red appeared dark or black, it indicated that light was no longer sufficient for color film without flash.
External controls: It features knobs and external levers that allow you to adjust the focus distance, the aperture, film advancement, and the shutter release without opening the box.
Viewfinder: On the top is mounted a folding-framed viewfinder to facilitate underwater framing.
