This French Art Nouveau umbrella stand is made of wrought iron, decorated with three-dimensional tulips, and is in good used condition with minor signs of age and spots.
Description from the seller
Very decorative umbrella stand. The stand is made of wrought iron. It is 56 cm tall, 22 cm wide and 22 cm deep. It weighs a little over 2 kg. The sides of the stand are decorated with a three-dimensional tulip flourish. The tulips and tulip leaves curl as if they were real plants, around the stand in a very organic way. You can see curved leaves, tulips still in bud, and tulips that are almost blooming out; very beautiful and graceful! The style is clearly Art Nouveau, and because the stand probably dates from the 1980s, you can speak of an Art Nouveau revival, which certainly occurred in those years (in fact, Art Nouveau never truly disappeared). The stand was probably made in France, but it could also have been Italy; such items were often made there. The stand is made of wrought iron. In contrast to similar stands from earlier periods, you can see that the metal is nicely welded together, and also that the flowers and leaves are uniformly cut out and not forged. The iron is black and brown and seems to be patinated with a bronze tinge; very beautiful! This stand is not only a functional piece of furniture, it is also a striking item in your decor; certainly a conversation piece! The stand will be carefully packed and insured for shipment.
