Description from the seller
Antique oval tin-glazed earthenware in French faience – 18th century – Decoration in verde-branch camaïeu in the Moustiers style
Refined oval plate in French 18th-century faience, characterized by a shaped silhouette with a wavy edge and a lively profile, typical of 18th-century French ceramic production.
The plate features a splendid hand-painted decoration in green monochrome, using the camaïeu vert technique, with delicate shading and outlines outlined in a dark shade.
At the center of the composition is depicted a standing male figure, set in a stylized landscape with vegetal elements and small shrubs. The figure is surrounded by a rich ornamental decoration consisting of floral motifs, tendrils, foliage, scrolls and small decorative elements distributed harmoniously over the surface.
The rim is adorned with refined vegetal ornamentation and a double green and dark border that elegantly follows the plate’s wavy profile.
The ensemble recalls the taste of important French manufactories of the 18th century, in particular the Provençal production of Moustiers, famous for its figurative compositions, fantastical motifs, and monochrome green decorations.
An object of great decorative and collecting charm, representative of the 18th-century French faience tradition.
Provenance: France (stylistic attribution).
Era: 18th century, attribution to be verified.
Material: Glazed tin-glazed pottery (faience) hand-painted.
Decoration: Green camaïeu, vegetal motifs and central figure.
Manufacture: In the style of Moustiers, attribution not certified.
