Pair of 19th-century brass candlesticks in Georgian style, each 22 cm high and fitted with a sliding push-up mechanism.
Description from the seller
Magnificent pair of antique brass push-button candlesticks – 19th century – circa 1800–1850
Superb pair of antique gilded brass candlesticks, single-candle each, presenting an elegant classic silhouette and an interesting traditional push-button mechanism.
These magnificent candlesticks are distinguished by their slender form, meticulous craftsmanship, and authentic charm, characteristic of traditional lighting accessories of the 19th century.
Each candlestick rests on a wide flared circular base, adorned with several concentric moldings, offering good stability to the ensemble.
The central cylindrical shaft is elegantly accentuated by molded rings and a rounded lower portion.
It terminates in a pretty flared circular socket intended to receive a candle.
An interesting feature lies in their sliding push-button system.
Each candlestick has a small metal rod placed in a vertical opening of the shaft.
This mechanism allows the remnants of candles to be raised for easier extraction, a traditional device particularly ingenious.
The brass presents a magnificent old-golden color, accompanied by a natural patina with brown and slightly greenish nuances, which underscores their charm and character.

These elegant candlesticks will bring a touch of authenticity and refinement to a fireplace, a sideboard, a reception table, or a characterful interior.
