Description from the seller
HERGÉ / TINTIN – Set of 26 Annotated Working Stencils – Hergé Archives / Casterman – circa 1979
Rare set of 26 working stencils relating to the preparation of Tintin pages reproduced in the volume Archives Hergé 3, published by Casterman in 1979.
The sheets reproduce black-and-white pages and feature numerous handwritten technical annotations in red and blue, as well as instructions directly related to the graphic treatment of the images before printing.
Among the notes are:
– “screening to be removed”
– “screening to be added”
– “is it possible to blacken the collar?”
Several panels are circled or marked to indicate areas to be modified.
Some sheets can be directly compared with the corresponding pages in Archives Hergé 3, showing their connection to the preparation of this edition.
Set: 26 stencils.
Period technical working documents.
These are not original drawings by Hergé.
Condition consistent with their use as production documents: annotations, working marks, and minor irregularities visible in the photographs.
The Archives Hergé volume shown in some photos is for comparison purposes only and is not included in the lot.
An unusual and interesting set for collectors of Tintin, Hergé, Casterman, or documents relating to traditional printing techniques.
