This German mechanical desk alarm clock from 1900–1910 has an architectural metal case with ornate silver- and gold-coloured decoration and a 24-hour dial.
Description from the seller
Antique mechanical desktop clock with 24-hour dial – early 20th century
Elegant and distinctive mechanical desktop clock, presumably of European manufacture, dating to the early twentieth century.
The clock features a refined architectural case in silvered metal, with a front panel in gold-toned metal richly decorated with raised ornamental motifs.
Main features:
* Era: circa 1900–1920 (stylistic attribution).
* Origin: Germany, manufacturer not identified.
* Materials: silvered metal and gold-toned metal, probably brass.
* Movement: mechanical hand-wound.
* Operation: working.
* Dial: black Roman numerals I to XII and red supplementary numeration from 13 to 24.
* Auxiliary dials: two small circular indicators, located at 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock respectively.
* Construction: rectangular case with shaped base, top handle in metal, and rear door opening to access the movement.
Description
Particularly interesting is the dial, characterized by the dual numbering of the hours and by the presence of two auxiliary counters, elements that give the clock a technical and refined appearance.
The case presents a pleasant chromatic combination between the silvered surfaces and the gold decorations, with ornamental work typical of antique clockmaking.
The mechanical movement is visible through the rear door that opens to observe the gears and the internal structure.
Condition:
The clock is functional.
Shows normal signs of wear, patina, small oxidations and traces of use consistent with age.
The dial retains its characteristic original numbering in appearance, with visible aging marks.
No long-term accuracy testing has been performed.
Conclusion
An interesting example of antique mechanical clockmaking, particularly decorative and suitable for collectors of antique clocks, time-measuring instruments, and historical objects.
The photographs are an integral part of the description and document the actual condition of the item.
The clock will be carefully packed for shipment.
