10x Lessini Durello DOC Metodo Classico "Over 60 Months" Riserva Brut - Marcato - 750 ml
Label Information
Designation: Lessini Durello Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC) (Controlled Designation of Origin)
Type: Metodo Classico Brut Riserva sparkling wine
Aging: Over 60 months on the lees
Producer: Marcato (Since 1904)
Bottled/Distributed by: Produced by Menomeno Srl - Turin, Italy
Country of origin: Produced in Italy
Alcohol content: 12.5% vol
Size: 750 ml
Allergens: Contains sulfites
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Bright golden yellow with warm highlights. Very fine, persistent, continuous bubbles.
Nose: Intense and complex. Notes of toasted bread crust, brioche, ripe yellow-fleshed fruit, candied citrus, and mineral nuances typical of the volcanic soils of the Monti Lessini emerge.
Palate: Fresh, dry, and full-bodied. The sharp acidity typical of the Durella grape is perfectly balanced by the softness and creaminess developed during over five years of aging on the lees. Long, savory, persistent finish.
Serving Temperature and Glassware
Serving temperature: 8 - 10 °C
Recommended glass: A sparkling wine glass with a wide bowl (such as a wide tulip glass or a structured white wine glass), ideal for releasing its complex range of aromas and enhancing the creaminess of the bubbles.
Food Pairings
Traditional dishes: Vicenza-style salt cod or creamed salt cod, Adriatic seafood fry, aged Veneto cured meats (e.g., Sopressa Vicentina).
First and main courses: Seafood risottos, sea urchin tagliolini, delicate white meats, and medium- to long-aged cheeses such as Monte Veronese DOP.
Facts About the Winery and Producer
The Monti Lessini and the Durella grape: Durella is an ancient indigenous grape variety from the hilly area between Verona and Vicenza, known for its pronounced acidity and thick skin—qualities that make it one of Italy’s best grape varieties for Metodo Classico sparkling wine production.
The history of Marcato: The Marcato winery was founded in 1904 by Lattanzio Marcato and has helped shape the history of Lessini Durello, believing from the outset in the potential of extended lees aging to bring out the best in this volcanic grape variety.
