Description from the seller
Vintage bamboo and rattan stand in Franco Albini style, Mid-Century Modern, 1960s.
Original vintage stand made of natural bamboo and rattan, set on a ceramic base. The piece is notable for its light, openwork construction with vertical bamboo elements joined by handwoven wicker. A characteristic detail is the decorative, wavy weave in the central part and the original, curved element inside the upper opening.
The form and materials used reference Italian Mid-Century Modern design, especially the aesthetics of Franco Albini, who became famous for his innovative use of rattan, bamboo and natural materials in furniture. The lightness of the construction, the display of craftsmanship, and the combination of geometric form with organic lines are characteristic of this movement.
Possible uses:
- as a classic umbrella stand in an entry hall or lobby;
- as a stand for canes, walking sticks, or sports accessories;
- as a container for beach accessories, e.g., rolled towels, mats or beach umbrellas;
- as a stand for magazines, newspapers and rolled posters;
- as a decorative container for lightweight textiles, e.g., throws or linen napkins;
- as a display for dry decorative branches or ornamental grasses;
- as an original element in the decor of the living room, bedroom, hotel lobby or restaurant.
Materials: bamboo, rattan, ceramic.
Condition: good vintage, with visible signs of time and use. Natural coloration, small abrasions and signs of wear emphasize the authentic character of the piece. Preserved in its original condition.
Dimensions:
* Height: 42 cm
* Width: 30 cm
* Depth: 30 cm
An interesting example of functional vintage design, combining natural materials, traditional craftsmanship and the timeless aesthetics of mid-20th century modernism.
