Description from the seller
Beautiful silver-plated cake server, Vinea pattern, recognizable by the refined motif of grapevines, grapes, and grape leaves on the handle. The Vinea collection is a more modern line by Christofle, produced around the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century (generally dated from 1983 through the 2000s).
The server comes in the brand’s original, characteristic green case.
The server is in good condition, with minimal signs of use. Clearly marked.
Christofle’s elegant, cursive signature is characteristic of its modern collections from the late 20th century. The square mark (left): This is the official French quality mark for silver plating (poinçon de qualité), introduced in 1983. It depicts a pair of scales with the initials OC (Orfèvrerie Christofle). The Roman numeral I (at the bottom of the square) indicates the highest French quality grade for silver plating.
The maker’s mark (right): This is the silversmith’s responsibility mark (poinçon de maître), which Christofle has used with the letters OC since 1935. Together with the introduction of the Vinea pattern at the end of the 20th century, these specific post-1983 marks point to a production period in the 1990s or early 2000s.
