AI-assisted summary
Description from the seller
Auxiliary coffee table, vintage flower stand – Mid-Century Modern, 1950s–60s
Original side table from the mid-20th century, distinguished by a decorative top with a blue-and-white pattern inspired by traditional Dutch Delft Blue pottery.
The top is adorned with numerous genre scenes depicting characteristic motifs of Dutch folklore: windmills, sailboats, traditional houses, rural landscapes, and figures in folk costumes. The composition references classic Dutch tiles, creating an interesting and recognizable decorative motif.
The top is made of a wooden panel covered with decorative laminate. The edges are finished with a light plastic trim, imitating metal. The underside is a wooden construction panel. The table features four slender, downward-tapering, slightly splayed legs in dark wood.
A simple, geometric construction and light proportions echo European Mid-Century Modern design. The combination of dark wood with a decorative blue-and-white top gives the piece a bold, somewhat folkloric character.
Style and inspirations
The table represents the aesthetics of post-war European design, merging functional form with decorative use of laminate. The top motif clearly references the Dutch Delft Blue tradition.
It is an interesting example of combining traditional decorative motifs with modern materials and forms characteristic of the 1950s and 1960s.
