Description from the seller
Stunning and authentic fire-glazed vintage badge (fire insurance plaque / fire mark) from the famous "Compañía de Seguros Mutuos Contra Incendio 'El Iris'" based in Havana (La Habana), Cuba.
These plaques were originally affixed to the façades of insured buildings to signal coverage to the fire brigades of the era. A piece of great historical charm and high visual impact.

• Material: Heavy iron sheet with domed fire enamel glaze.
• Colors: Vivid graphics in red, white, azure blue and cobalt blue. The colors retain excellent brightness and original saturation.
• Overall condition: Excellent for a vintage object exposed to the elements. It shows the classic and fascinating patina of time.
• Wear: There are enamel chippings and stable rust bloom along the outer edge and around the side mounting holes (visible in photo).
• Back: The reverse presents the typical original dark finish with evident drips and burn marks of blue and white enamel, testimony to authenticity and the vintage manufacturing process. No modern restoration or retouching present.
