Description from the seller
Pair of serving cutlery consisting of a large spoon and a scoop featuring long handles richly adorned with a raised floral and botanical decoration, finely chased. The ends of the handles are embellished with swollen terminals with geometric decoration. The spoon bowl and the scoop are edged with a decorative frieze.
Likely Cambodian manufacture - first half of the 20th century.
Inscriptions or marks engraved in dotted lines are visible at the base of the scoop handle as well as on the bowl of the spoon (see photos 6, 25 and 26). No official hallmark of fineness or maker identified.
The handles reacted positively to a touchstone test with a red-orange coloration (see photo 27), corresponding to a low silver content (between 500 and 700 thousandths). The scoop and the spoon bowl do not react to the touchstone in a way that clearly indicates a sufficient amount of silver to be classified as silverware (see photo 28). These parts are therefore considered to be silver-plated metal.
Good overall condition, age and use wear, antique patina darkened in places (notably in the reliefs), stains and marks, scratches and micro-scratches. Photos are part of the description.
Max dimensions:
- Scoop: length 29.3 cm / width 7 cm
- Spoon: length 27 cm / bowl width 7.3 cm
- Diameter of the handles: 1 to 2 cm.
Insured for transport, securely packaged. Home delivery by Mondial Relay for the following countries: France, Belgium, Germany and Luxembourg.
Delivery via Colissimo for the rest of Europe and the world.
