The Rollei XF 35 is a 35 mm rangefinder camera with a Sonnar 40 mm f/2.3 lens; its mechanical functions have been tested and work, but the built-in light meter does not.
Description from the seller
Rollei XF 35 – Analog rangefinder camera with Sonnar 40mm f/2.3
The Rollei XF 35 is a compact analog 35mm rangefinder camera from the 1970s, equipped with a bright Sonnar 40mm f/2.3 lens, manufactured under license from Carl Zeiss.
The camera features a coupled light meter for manual focusing and an automatic exposure system with shutter speeds from 1/30 to 1/650 second.
Special adjustment ring
The Rollei XF 35 has an adjustment ring with three different functions:
- A: automatic exposure where the light meter controls both the aperture and the shutter speed.
- Guide numbers: intended for flash photography. Here the aperture is automatically linked to the set focusing distance.
- B: for long exposures. The shutter remains open as long as the shutter release is held down. The aperture is fully open at f/2.3.
The numbers on the adjustment ring are therefore guide numbers for flash photography and not separately adjustable aperture values.
Condition
The camera has been tested and the mechanical functions work properly. The shutter, focusing, and film transport operate well.
The built-in light meter does not work. As a result, the automatic exposure control cannot be used reliably.
However, the camera also has a mechanical B setting for long exposures and a separate setting for flash photography.
Because of the defective light meter, the camera is offered with this clearly stated limitation.
Please inspect the photos carefully for a good impression of the cosmetic condition.
The camera is carefully packaged and insured for shipment.
