Description from the seller
Osiris was one of the most important gods of Ancient Egypt, associated with resurrection, fertility and life after death. According to Egyptian mythology, Osiris was the first mythical pharaoh of Egypt, a wise and just king who taught humanity agriculture, laws and civilization. However, his brother Seth, driven by envy, betrayed him, killed him and dismembered his body. His wife and sister, the goddess Isis, managed to gather and restore his remains with the help of magic, returning him temporarily to life. From this union was born Horus, who would later avenge his father.
After his resurrection, Osiris became the lord of the Duat, the realm of the dead, where he ruled as judge of the souls. In this role, Osiris presided over the final judgment, where the heart of the deceased was weighed in a balance against the feather of Ma'at, goddess of truth. If the heart was pure, the soul could live forever.
Osiris was depicted as a mummified man with green or black skin, symbol of renewal and fertility, and bearing the crook and the flail. His cult spread throughout Egypt, symbolizing the hope of eternal life.
