French Art Deco salad-serving set comprising a large spoon and a matching three-pronged fork, with .800 silver and ivory-coloured celluloid handles, in its original case.
Description from the seller
Ancient set for serving salad in silver and celluloid in the Louis XVI style with its original box from the late 19th / early 20th century, a refined pair of salad-serving utensils, consisting of a large spoon and a matching three-tined fork. The set is a classic example of French craftsmanship for fine dining. The handles are finely worked in high relief in silver, decorated with classical and floral motifs in full Louis XVI style. The upper part of the cutlery is made of precious ivory-colored celluloid and the lower part in silver, bearing hallmarks depicting a crab. This means the cutlery was produced in France, in the provinces, after 1834. They come in their original case (with normal signs of wear) from the period, lined on the inside with silky fabric that has helped preserve the items in excellent condition over the decades. An important collectible piece or a refined addition to a formal dining table. The photos are part of the description.
