Kongo Fetish - Vili - DR Congo

This sale offers a collection of works from the studio of a Belgian painter, gathered over time through his discoveries, encounters and affinities. The artists have often maintained a privileged relationship with primitive arts: sensitive to the force of forms, to the simplicity of volumes and to the expressiveness of materials, they were among the first to look at these objects differently from mere curiosities. Their eye, naturally attentive to lines and balances, led them to collect these works and, at times, to draw inspiration from them. This group thus bears witness to an intimate dialogue between artistic creation, the gaze of a collector and the fascination with forms from elsewhere.
