Description from the seller
Exquisite Silver Centrepiece – Ornate Three-Leaf Botanical Design – 952 g
An exceptionally decorative and substantial silver three-leaf serving centrepiece, featuring elaborate botanical craftsmanship, sculptural detailing and a beautifully designed intertwined vine handle.
This impressive piece consists of three individually formed leaf-shaped serving dishes, elegantly arranged around a central branch structure.
Each leaf displays deeply modelled veins, delicately shaped naturalistic contours and flowing, irregular edges, creating an attractive three-dimensional composition.
The centrepiece is crowned by a tall, intricately worked carrying handle formed from twisting vine branches, embellished with decorative foliage and finely sculpted floral details.
The elegant botanical design is reminiscent of the naturalistic artistic traditions associated with Art Nouveau and traditional ornamental silverwork.
Silver Markings
The underside bears the clearly visible stamped word “SILVER”, accompanied by a smaller indistinct marking resembling the letter “R”.
The smaller marking may form part of a partially worn maker’s or manufacturer’s inscription.
The exact silver purity and maker have not yet been independently verified.
Provenance
Discovered within a private Chinese household collection, where it had been stored inside a trunk containing numerous other sterling silver objects and decorative silverware.
This reported provenance provides interesting background to the collection, although the precise country of manufacture remains unidentified.
